Is Today the Day the World Came Crashing Down on You?
This one quote will bring you hope and comfort.
If you’re reading this, you’re in pain.
A great deal of pain.
Maybe divorce papers have been signed and finalized. Maybe you found out you had cancer. Maybe you just discovered your partner was having an affair. Maybe you’re grieving the loss of a life, such as a long-term partner, child, or parent.
Whatever the case, your world has been turned upside down. And there’s a wound in your heart to prove it, one so deep and bloody, you’re afraid you’ll bleed out.
The color has been sucked from your world, and you don’t have the strength to fight back. You can’t even think about tomorrow because right now, the only thing you can do is breathe and take the hurt one minute at a time.
But listen to me.
There’s a reason you’re still here.
It’s because life is not done with you yet.
There is joy and laughter ahead for you. Maybe not for months or even longer. And the pain may never go away, but here’s what you have to remember.
It’s a quote from a beautiful poem by author L.R. Knost.
It reads:
“Go outside and stand barefoot in the stardust speckled dirt/with your face tilted up to the universe/and whisper to your wounded heart, ‘This is not how my story ends. There is so much more to life than this moment/these hours, this day, this season of my life. It’s my story….and it doesn’t end here.”
And I know today you may not want to hear this quote. The pain may be too fresh. However, one day I hope you’ll see the sunrise, remember the words above, and realize there’s another chapter in your life to be written.
A good one. A day where your heart will say, “Maybe now, I can move forward despite the pain.”
You have more power and more strength than you know, and believe it or not, better days are ahead.
So hold on. Hang on. Because I want to be able to say, “I told you so.” And then I want you to smile afterward.
